Signs Of HVAC Problems

by Feride Halma

When you have an HVAC system in your home, it is the responsible thing to learn the signs that you may want to have someone come out to look at it soon. If you have no idea what some of the red flags of potential problems are, then you may end up letting things go too long that you shouldn't have and this can lead to bigger and more expensive problems down the line. Here are some of the signs you want to watch for and have looked at when and if you notice them.

You notice warm air coming out of the registers

If you can feel air coming out of the registers, but the air is warm, then this can indicate a couple of different problems, both of which you should have a tech come out to take care of. One of the issues may be that your units compressor is having issues and another problem may be that your unit is running low on freon. The unit must have the proper amount of freon in order to cool the air down properly. The tech may simply need to refill the unit with more freon, or they may also need to repair a leak in the system that is causing the freon to leak out in the first place.

There seems to be insufficient airflow throughout the house

If it seems like the unit is working correctly in some areas of the home, but others don't have the same level of coolness, then there may be a problem with the ductwork throughout the home. If there is a leak or even an obstruction somewhere in the ductwork, then it can cause the cool air to flow correctly through some of the ducts, but leak out or get cut off in other areas. A technician should come out, so they can check the ducts out and take care of the problem, getting your system back to running how it is supposed to be running. This can also save you money on your energy expenses since insufficient airflow can cause your energy bills to rise.

Problems with your air conditioner's thermostat

If the thermostat for your air conditioner isn't working as it should, then it can make it extremely difficult for you to get your entire home to the right temperature you want it at. You can try checking the thermostat yourself by making sure the fuse isn't blown and that the knobs or buttons are working as they should. However, if you are unable to take care of the problem on your own, then you will need to have a technician come out to resolve the issue for you.
